Create Stunning Designs With Ease

making industrial design more accessible

You start work on a new 3D model. The time starts going by; days, weeks, months. You take a step back to take it all in... only to realize your design ended up all function, no beauty.

Regardless of how powerful a software is, it will always have its strengths and weaknesses. You can create incredibly complex, functional designs in something such as SOLIDWORKS, but that doesn't mean anyone will want to use your product. That's why we have industrial designers. And while you can carry out surfacing in SOLIDWORKS to create aesthetically pleasing designs, it is often difficult, frustrating, and time-consuming without the right skillset.

You can avoid this by taking advantage of the 3D Sculptor role on 3DEXPERIENCE. With it, you can now implement sub-division modeling into your processes, allowing you to create stunning aesthetically pleasing designs right away!

However, you can have all of the tools in the world, they only benefit you if you know how to use them. Whether you're new to 3DEXPERIENCE or have found that you're not taking full advantage of the available tools, this course will go through everything you need to know to properly utilize the Collaborative Industry Innovator role.

Key Concepts

This course will cover tons of content, but there are some central concepts that will be focused on.

  • Adding primitive shapes and the types available

  • Molding and shaping the primitive shapes

  • Designing a part around images

  • Working with assemblies

  • Additional xShape tools (shelling geometry, splitting/combining geometry, etc.)

What's Included?

This course will cover the 3D Sculptor role on 3DEXPERIENCE and show you how to properly utilize all of the apps included.

The course is broken into four chapters.

Chapter 1 will introduce you to xShape and show you how to navigate the app.

Chapter 2 will teach you how to create and manage geometry with xShape.

Chapter 3 will teach you how to sculpt your designs with free-forming, fine features, and based on images.

Chapter 4 will go over some of the remaining features to manage your designs such as shelling out bodies, splitting/combining bodies, managing surfaces, etc.

FAQ

  • Are there any prerequisites to this course?

You should have a decent understanding of how to navigate the platform with at least the Collaborative Business Innovator role and ideally the Collaborative Industry Innovator role as well. Don't worry, we have courses for both of those!

  • Why should I learn about the 3D Sculptor role?

The 3D Sculptor role will allow you to expand your designer skillset by creating aesthetically pleasing geometry with ease. Especially if you work with consumer-facing products, a well-designed product can make the difference between selling out and not selling at all.

  • What if I don't have access to the 3D Sculptor role?
